Jacking Point Guard schematic

This is the official technical drawing for the strengthening plate which is fixed over the jacking points to stop them catching on obstacles. As can be seen, it gives all necessary angles and measurements for making your own.

These are the bars used to connect the front torsion beams to the framehead for extra strengthening.

Front Axle Support Struts, or Vorderachsabstutzung, Reparstursatze 111 498 001 und 111 498 001A

These were fitted to the front axle of cars going to countries with rough terrain and help stop the frame head cracking.

There were two types: the early type (001) is for the Link-pin front axle, and the later type (001A) for the Ball-joint front axle. They will not fit the Type 3 or the 1302/3 models.

They clamp to the front axle and are bolted to the frame head supports under the body with the longer bolts provided.

Front skid plate.

This protects the anti-roll bar and the frame head. It also stops the spare wheel well being damaged.

On very rough terrain the exhaust is liable to be damaged and, as this is bolted directly to the cylinder head, impacts on the exhaust can result in damage to the cylinder heads, causing leakage and loss of power.

This skid plate will assist in diverting the forces away from the silencer.

Sump guard.

Whilst the strainer plate guard is OK for limited off-roading, for serious events a full guard is required. This one is used in conjunction with the exhaust guard.
