Bob Beales Beetle

The following 1200 was originally campaigned by Bob Bengry in the 1960 and 1962 UK rally championships.

Bob Beales then acquired the car in 1965, and has been campaigning it ever since, winning many awards including the Welsh Historic Rally championship.

Over the years, the car has had many engine iterations - 1200, 1300, 1500, 1600 Beetle and 1500 Porsche, with the final (and current) version being a Okrasa (Oettinger) 34RSGT built by Tim Kemp of VSE Engines.

The first pictures are of when it was used prior to the Historic Rally championships being created:

1972 Shell Tour of Dean Rally

Bob also campaigned a 1966 1300 Beetle for a while too, in autotests, autocross and economy runs.  Primarily though, this was Bob's road car.

UWP 401 is now, of course, in the Historic Rallying class, and pictures can be found here.
