Vidar Christensen's New Engine

Vidar has been building up a new engine and gearbox at home in Norway, and has put up a thread about the build on the Norwegian Agder VW club website (here for the gearbox/diff & here for the engine)

Some teaser pics:

Under 'generelt' in the message board you will find two more threads on his work:-

The first is on a 13.5:1 in compression ratio on a new type 1599 cc hi-power, hi-revving EFI engine.  This engine will run on E-85 biofuel and they hope to get more then 190 hp!  Look at the milling job he has done to the head!

Engine number two is a VW type 1 engine too, but a 2332 cc engine, with JE special short pistons.

The site is in Norwegian, naturally

----------------------

Vidar has just provided a translation of some of the work he has done:

1. My friends at JP Motorsport in Sweden have made a 1603cc hi-rev engine producing 194 hp, he uses more self-made standard parts then I do, and I use more performance parts, and made my engine 1599cc to meet the FIA class limit.

2. I made two 1599 cc engine: engine (A:) new AS 41 housing, Demello 69 mm stroke full-circle racing crank with 3.2kg (7lb) 180 mm flywheel and 5.600" race rods, 85.90mm bore, with my design German made hi-comp pistons with 24mm cross-pin height, 1.5:1 Pauter rocker arms, Manton push rods, ultra-light lifters, Pauter camshaft with straight-cut gears, 044 ultra-wedge port heads with 40 and 35.5mm titanium valves, hi-rev springs and titanium retainers, twin 48-mm throttle-bodies Link EFI, self-mapped in my new DynaPack wheel dyno, + a lot more.

Engine (B) AS 21 housing, full circle racing crank de-stroked to 68.85 mm with 4.1kg (9lb) 200mm flywheel and 5.600" race rods, 86mm bore with JE pistons with 24mm cross-pin height, 1.51:1  JE rocker arms, Manton push rods, ultra-light lifters, Engle camshaft with straight-cut gears, 044 ultra-wedge port heads, tig welded to hi-comp, 42 and 36mm titanium valves with hi-rev springs and titanium retainers, twin 48 throttle-bodies with Link EFI, self-mapped in my new DynaPack wheel dyno.+ a lot more.

Engine no.3 is a CB 2332 cc engine, CB alu housing, CB crm crank and 5.700" race rods with 200mm ultra-light flywheel, JE 94 mm pistons with 24 mm cross pin height, CB 1.4:1 rocker arms, Manton push rods, ultra-light lifters, Eagle camshaft, straight cut gears, CB ultra wedge port heads with titanium valve and 1.1:1 springs, twin 50 mm roller throttle-bodies with CB self tuning EFI +a lot more

All engines will be ready for test runs and mapping in the next month.  I have got a new DynaPack wheel dyno , but I still have my 4wd Dynapack dyno too.
